How we got here

We learned AI where every wrong answer cost money and reputation.

Before MPL, we built AI at one of the world’s largest payments companies, where systems handled enormous volume and a mistake showed up on someone’s bank statement. For the last two years we’ve brought that same discipline into law firms, and today most of our clients are personal injury firms.

  1. Before MPL

    Engineers at a global payments company

    We were asked to figure out AI for one of the world’s largest payments companies. Rok was an AI engineer, Lotte a machine learning engineer. Working closely with the legal department, we brought AI into the daily work of employees across 35 offices, in an industry where a wrong output had real consequences.

  2. Why law firms

    Law firms had the same problem, with far less help

    At the payments company we worked side by side with the legal team, and we saw how hard it was for lawyers to get straight answers about AI. There was no one sitting in the middle helping lawyers understand what vendors were selling and what IT was saying. Law firms had the same problem, with far less help. So we left to be the people in the middle.

  3. 2024

    We learned how law firms really run

    Our first clients were boutique firms in the US, the UK, Europe and Latin America. We spent that first year inside those firms, mapping how work moves from the first client call to the final invoice and finding where the hours go.

  4. Along the way

    We’re on the front line of AI in law firms

    Every week we interview law firm founders, legal tech leaders and the people building AI inside firms on our podcast. We have more than 1,000 subscribers to our weekly legal AI newsletter and regularly release new educational videos on YouTube. It keeps us current in a field that changes rapidly, and the firms we work with get the benefit of everything we learn.

  5. 2026

    We went all in on Claude

    In early 2026, general AI platforms became a real option for doing legal work, and Anthropic moved into legal first. That head start shows. Claude brought legal features to firms of every size, while other providers still keep theirs for the largest firms. Our clients see the difference when they compare the tools side by side, and so does almost everyone we talk to. So we went all in on Claude, working with firms in the US and Canada, most of them in personal injury. Going all in also meant filling the gaps ourselves. When Clio, the system our clients run their cases in, had no way to connect to Claude, we built that connection.

  6. Today

    Helping PI firms run at multiples of their headcount

    The largest firms have innovation teams and knowledge lawyers making AI work for them. A PI firm has the managing partner, who’s already working more than full time. So we run AI for the firm as its Chief AI officer, so the managing partner can focus on running the firm.

Started and led the AI initiative at one of the world’s largest payment companies and rolled it out to thousands of employees worldwide. Today he implements and runs AI for PI firms across the US and Canada and has advised three Am Law 200 firms. He sits on the steering committee of Legal Benchmarks, the open-source framework for evaluating legal AI and hosts Legal AI Conversations, a weekly podcast with the people shaping legal AI.
