The pattern we keep seeing with boutique firms is consistent. Partners facing new vendor categories every month, client data questions that require specialist context, and a landscape moving faster than anyone running a practice has time to keep up with. What partners have told us they want is a technical partner they can think out loud with, without a vendor agenda attached.

I spent years leading AI initiatives at enterprise scale, in environments where every technical decision had to stand up to regulatory scrutiny and where reliability had to be demonstrable at volume. That experience is what I draw on in the work we do now.
My first engagement with a law firm opened up a set of conversations I hadn't expected. I started writing about what I was seeing, and the work built from there. At some point I realised this was what I'd actually been working toward for most of my career.
Today I write a weekly newsletter on what is changing in legal AI, record a weekly podcast with people building serious work in this space, and publish a longer video essay most weeks. Close to 5,000 people in legal AI follow the work. I've worked with firm partners, legal AI advisors, and lawyers building AI-native practices across four continents.

I spent years working on AI systems that had to perform reliably at enormous scale. The question I was answering every day was whether a given system would hold up when the stakes were real and the volume was constant. That way of working is at the heart of what I bring into every MPL engagement.
When a legal AI vendor makes a claim about how their system handles client data or how their model performs on specific document types, I can look at how the system is actually built and tell you how much of that claim holds up in the architecture. That reading is part of the value we bring on every engagement.
